NOT OFFERED FALL 2008 SESSION
6 classes
$185.00
This class is a continuation of our Spanish 2 class, or for anyone who has previously studied the present tense, including regular, irregular, stem-changing and reflexive verbs, and has a familiarity with a variety of vocabulary themes including family & home, everyday activities, numbers & colors, foods, city & travel, the calendar & weather. Strong proficiency in these areas is not required for Spanish 3, however, students with a base knowledge and working ability of these concepts will feel most comfortable.
In Spanish 3 we will continue to strengthen and expand students' grammar knowledge and vocabulary base, with an emphasis on practicing oral skills and communication during class. Students will become more accurate using a variety of regular, irregular and stem-changing verbs in the present tense. Students will learn how to talk at length about daily routines and activities. Short written assignments to strengthen students’ skills and to provide for basic personal expression will be assigned, collected by the instructor for corrections and comments, and returned to students for a final re-write. Readings from our textbook Easy Spanish will also be assigned and discussed. The texts used in Spanish 1 and Spanish 2 will continue to be used in Spanish 3 so there are no new materials that students need to purchase.
By the end of Spanish 3, most students will be able to handle basic guided conversation in Spanish with an emerging ability to incorporate personal feelings and opinions beyond memorized and familiar expressions. Students will begin to use learned elements of the language to start developing strategies for communication. Students will generally be in the Intermediate-Low level as described by
ACTFL (The American Council for the Teaching of Foreign Languages).
New students considering our Spanish 3 class who are unsure of their proficiency and/or basic skills in Spanish may contact Tom at 651.388.8743 to set up an appointment to have a short proficiency evaluation. Any student who enrolls for Spanish 3 and finds that it is a bit beyond their skills may finish out the session in a Spanish 2 class if available. Likewise, students who find Spanish 3 well within their ability may advance on to a Spanish 4 or higher class if available. Inspired Learning Studio will make every attempt to make your language learning experience successful and rewarding for you.
